Dancing and Musical Group

Already from 1988, a group of people from Naoussa, who loved traditional music and dance, began to make efforts for their maintenance.

Members that later constituted the Music and Dance Group Naoussa Paros participated in dancing performances in Greece (Paros, Antiparos, Athens, Xanthi, Chios) and abroad (Porto Portugal and Schahen Holland). The Group aims at preserving and then circulating the dances, the music and the songs, the habits and the customs of Paros. At the same time, it organises groups which, at periods, record the folklore elements of the island.

The twelve groups of dancers, from small children to adults, come from every corner of Paros with Naoussa to be the centre, while there also function departments in Aspro Horio and Kostos villages. The performances are always accompanied with live music from violin, touberleki and song but also tsabouna and toubaki.

Regular performances: they take place from May until September in the yard of the church of Virgin Mary in Naoussa, but also in other parts of the island. At the same time, the Group participates in events of the island collaborating with the municipal Departments, the Municipality and other cultural Associations of Paros.
